Paihia is a high performing, sustainable and strong home built with Italian cross-laminated timber (CLT) with glulam beams, milled from 70-year-old mountain spruce.
With panoramic coastal views on offer, large windows and doors opening onto the expansive decks were a priority from the outset. Ambiance black uPVC double-glazed windows and doors were specified to complete the thermal envelope, matching the demands of the solid timber structure without compromising the views.
The result speaks for itself. The owner says it is the warmest house he has ever owned. He never has to run a heater and can always walk around barefoot, which is a big contrast to his old house where he had to wear thick socks and slippers for 3 quarters of the year.
